Since moving to Arizona three years ago, I've made it a tradition to make a summer jaunt back to California to visit friends and family. This year, I flew into San Jose and left the airport in a rented Prius that I would drive around for the next two weeks. I had never even been in one before and I was blown away by how quiet it was! It was a "push to start" engine and it reminded me of an electric golf cart! I got such the kick traveling around in it!
And travel around I did! I went back to all my California favorites. Fraiche in Palo Alto...

I made it to see friends from high school, under grad, grad school and teaching! And hit up several happy hours along the way ; )
My mom and I did a mother-daughter beach day...
And my sister and I did an afternoon tea!
My sweet husband flew out to meet me toward the end of the trip. We dined at Michi Sushi in Campbell, the site of our very first date almost five years ago!
Then it was off to Half Moon Bay where we enjoyed the ocean,
the seafood,
and the beautiful wedding of one of Max's grad school friends. Congratulations to the new Dr. and Mrs. Hall!
Before heading back to Arizona we popped up to the city to meet friends at Stern Grove Park for their summer music festival. It was like walking into a hidden world - who knew San Francisco had such places?
